Speed, Distance, and Time Calculator

The speed-distance-time calculator helps you determine the speed, distance, or time for any moving object based on the other two values. It also allows unit conversions across different systems.

Speed

“Speed is the ratio of distance traveled to the time taken.”

Speed is a scalar quantity. The SI unit is meters per second (m/s) with dimension M⁰L¹T⁻¹. Other units include inches/sec, miles/sec, feet/sec, kilometers/sec, centimeters/sec, and yards/sec.

Speed Formula:

Speed = Distance / Time or S = d / t

You can also use a velocity calculator to compute speed.

Distance

“Distance is the total length between two points.”

Distance is scalar. The SI unit is meters with dimension L. This calculator can compute distance in inches, miles, feet, kilometers, centimeters, and yards.

Distance Formula:

Distance = Speed × Time or d = s × t

Use a distance calculator for instant results.

Time

“Time is the period during which an action, process, or condition occurs.”

Time is scalar. The SI unit is seconds with dimension T. The calculator can also display time in years, months, days, hours, minutes, or hh:mm:ss format.

Time Formula:

Time = Distance / Speed or T = D / S

How to Calculate Speed, Distance, and Time

Speed Example:

A car covers 150 km in 1 hour. Calculate speed in m/s.

Solution:
Distance in meters: 150 × 1000 = 150,000 m
Time in seconds: 1 × 60 × 60 = 3600 s
Speed = Distance / Time = 150,000 / 3600 ≈ 41.66 m/s

Distance Example:

A truck travels at 60 m/s for 80 seconds. Find the distance.

Solution:
Distance = Speed × Time = 60 × 80 = 4800 m

Time Example:

A train covers 130 km at 50 km/h. Calculate time.

Solution:
Time = Distance / Speed = 130 / 50 = 2.6 hours ≈ 2 hours 36 minutes
